I’m Mare Rosenbaum, your Guide, and this why I started Homeward Bound.
It’s my mission to empower you and to support your courageous effort to begin anew.
I moved a lot. As the supporting partner (the one who gave up the job) of an upwardly mobile corporate executive, I learned that we are ALL vulnerable when we relocate. It doesn’t matter how knowledgeable, resourceful, or worldly we are. From the new graduate to the CEO, we all need to meet our need for safety, belonging, shelter, identity, and purpose.
I get it. After 5 corporate and 18 personal moves, I figured out how to find “home” in a completely new area in days, not months. I also learned how to create a meaningful chapter, no matter where, at every life stage, and for my kids at every age. These methods became the basis of Homeward Bound’s services.
The Ultimate Test
While living in Brazil, I learned how to cope with being in a multi-cultural environment leaving my family, friends, comforts and career behind adding concerns for our safety, learning to speak a foreign language—the ultimate test. I learned a lot from the expats who were experts at it. Their support was essential. My deep gratitude for their generosity compelled me to pay it forward. When we returned to the U.S., I began to help others in the same situation. My focus was to acknowledge the supporting partner’s vital role to the success of the move. My methods were unique in the corporate world where all benefits and programs served only the employee. If my client was single, I would address their social, emotional and personal needs so that they could focus on their new job. This approach made all the difference.
Companies Began to Notice
For the past 10 years, I’ve been entrusted to serve national, international, and Fortune 100 companies by guiding and supporting their most valuable employees and families at every management level up to the CEO.
My Creative Edge
Prior to founding Homeward Bound, I was art director, marketing specialist and advertising account manager, creating and managing campaigns at New York and Boston advertising agencies with national accounts such as Bose, Fidelity Investments, GTE, UniLever (Dove, Skippy, Wisk, All), and Tumi. Later, I was editor of the regional, True West Magazine, on the team that led the transformation of its content from historic to lifestyle, creating new ways to engage our readers. I’m also a painter and have exhibited my fine art nationally.
